There\u2019s not a single person who is virtuous, or even valorous<\/em>. Left to our own habits and desires, that\u2019s a true statement. Outside of God\u2019s description, virtue (or valor) doesn\u2019t exist. But within God\u2019s spirit, all of us can find and follow His principles, causing our lives to glow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fortunately, God\u2019s told us what He thinks about virtue. The virtuous woman of God<\/a> described in Proverbs 31 provides us with a framework not to be feared, but embraced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s not a laundry list of \u201cdo\u2019s and don\u2019ts\u201d we have<\/em> to do to earn God\u2019s favor. Instead, it outlines what we get <\/em>to do to please God and our families. With God\u2019s help, each of us can become a woman of valor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who is the Proverbs 31 woman?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

To be a woman of integrity, according to the Bible, is to turn to God and let Him<\/em> build her character. Proverbs 31:10-31<\/a>, otherwise known as the \u201cvirtuous woman scripture,\u201d explains her core attributes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One version describes Proverbs 31\u00a0as \u201cThe Virtuous Wife\u201d (NKJV), while the Tree of Life version uses \u201cA Woman of Valor\u201d. Translated from the Hebrew (\u05d0\u05b5\u05bd\u05e9\u05b6\u05c1\u05ea-\u05d7\u05b7\u05d9\u05b4\u05dc – \u201ceishet chayil\u201d) we see that the woman described here is a mighty woman, not unlike the force of an army that displays valor through strength and courage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Either way, this passage shows that embracing our inner valor or virtue means becoming an active and powerful partner in the life of our families<\/a> and communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
